When Military Suicide Becomes Personal

2011 August 22

You do not want to miss tonight’s Voice of Warriors BlogTalk Radio hour at 7:30 pm. The subject of this interview is a difficult one, but it is one that must be discussed. Gold Star father, Bob Bagosy, will join us as we discuss the topic of military suicide.

On May 10, 2010, Bob’s son, Sgt. Thomas Bagosy, lost his battle with Post Traumatic Stress and took his own life. Bob and his family understand what it means to serve their country. Bob’s father was a combat Marine who served in WW2. His uncle served at that time as well. Bob, himself, served in the Marine Corps from 1966-1972. His son, Tommy followed in his footsteps and enlisted in the Marine Corps in June, 2004. Tommy served combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and was a member of MARSOC – Marine Special Operations Command.

Join us and listen as Bob shares his story about his family’s service in the Marine Corps, his son’s deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, SEMPER FI moments, how his son’s death has changed his life and that of his family, and how TAPS (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors) has helped the Bagosy family to cope with Tommy’s death.

Bob Bagosy grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is married with five children and seven grandchildren, and now resides in Atlanta, Georgia. He has a Master of Science Degree in Behavioral Science from Wilmington University in Delaware and a Bachelor of Science degree from Temple University in Philadelphia. Bob is a retired police commander, having worked for the Amtrak Transit Police Department for 28 years. Bob has also served as VP of Corporate Security with JP Morgan Chase. He has held the position of Chief of Police with the Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank, and was the Director of Regional Security with CVS-Caremark.
